PTI President Speaks at Retort Pouch Europe 2007 Conference in Dusseldorf, Germany
Tuckahoe, NY (December 17, 2007) - Tony Stauffer, president of Packaging Technologies & Inspection, was invited to speak at the Retort Pouch Europe Conference on December 5, 2007 in Dusseldorf, Germany. Stauffer spoke about Non-Destructive Inspection Technologies for Retort Packaging.
Stauffer stated, “It’s critical to confirm the processes used in retortable foods to insure food products are safely contained in the package before shipment. Using the proper inspection method to verify package and seal integrity is an important step in the manufacturing process and cannot be overlooked. PTI offers inspection technologies for retort packaging that are non-destructive, non-invasive and require no sample preparation.” Stauffer adds, “Our inspection systems produce test results that are precise and repeatable with statistical data that really means something.”
Stauffer discussed the patented technology and the many advantages, “Seal-Scan™ inspection systems utilize airborne ultrasound technology to test the integrity of heat seals of retort pouches and flexible packaging. Seal-Scan™ works with all materials and offers the unique ability to evaluate and analyze seal quality, pinpointing invisible seal defects that affect product quality, value and shelf-life. Seal-Scan™ detects seal defects that commonly occur in retort packaging such as contaminations in the seal area, channel leaks, delaminations, misaligned seals, bonding defects and many other defects that can contribute to poor seal integrity. Stauffer adds, “For packagers and processors, the key is to be able to identify and correct problems before package integrity gets out of control, and Seal-Scan™ technology is an excellent solution for both quality and process control.”

About Tony Stauffer
For over 22 years, Tony Stauffer has focused on developing inspection technologies that perform with a high degree of precision and reliability, and simplify testing and validation processes. He has been awarded several U.S. patents for inspection technologies and system design. He received a Masters in Business Administration from the American Graduate School of International Management in Arizona, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Ingenieurschule Biel-Bienne in Switzerland. He has been President of PTI since 1985.
