Tuckahoe, NY, United States (July 24, 2009) - Tony Stauffer, president of Packaging Technologies & Inspection, has been invited to speak at the Packaging Technology Symposium in Sao Paolo, Brazil. The schedule and presentation topics are the following:
Stauffer stated, "I'm honored to have this opportunity to speak at this event. This program encompasses many important topics relating to packaging technologies and the latest packaging innovations. I will speak about deep drawn aluminum packaging for shelf stable, ovenable and microwaveable food. Aluminum containers are now a significant component in human food, pet food, chemical and medical packaging. Aluminum is lightweight, having a favorable effect on transport costs and energy requirements through the distribution chain. The material cycle of aluminum packaging also contributes to the efficient use of energy as it is 100% recyclable."
Stauffer will also give a presentation about Tstix® Microperforated Packaging Technology. Stauffer adds, “Tstix® was designed originally for tea and coffee applications, providing the advantage of simply stirring the Tstix® in water to create a convenient, tasty beverage. This technology is rapidly attracting attention in many industries for numerous applications including pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, food and cosmetics.”
In the afternoon session Stauffer's presentation will focus on PTI's inspection technologies for the food, pharmaceutical, medical device and container industries. "I will highlight our non-destructive solutions for pouch testing using two of our leading technologies, Seal-Scan™ that utilizes airborne ultrasound technology to test the integrity of heat seals of pouches and flexible packaging, and the VeriPac series of package integrity testers for pouches using vacuum decay technology", Stauffer stated. "Of particular note is also our VeriPac 325/LV micro leak tester for empty & prefilled syringes, vials and other types of pharmaceutical packaging. The VeriPac 325/LV vacuum decay method (ASTM F2338-09) has been proven to be more sensitive, more reliable than destructive testing methods and provides quantitative results that are not subject to human interpretation. Recent case studies using the 325/LV are remarkable, and are of tremendous value to the pharmaceutical industry, especially in the field of container closure integrity."
